One remembers you. One lets you choose who's talking.
Replika is a different category of product and it is worth saying so plainly before comparing anything. It is a companion: one persistent character that accumulates a picture of you over months, with an avatar, voice calls and a mobile-first design built around continuity rather than capability. People do not use Replika because it is the smartest model available. They use it because it is the same presence tomorrow that it was today, and no chat platform — this one included — replicates that by putting a bigger model behind a text box.
What sends people looking for alternatives is usually one of two things. Either the conversation feels thinner than it used to, or the platform's stance on adult roleplay shifted underneath them — it has changed more than once over the years, and each change left a wave of users hunting for somewhere the rules would not move again. OpenRogue answers the second complaint directly and only partly answers the first. There is no filter layer, and there are ten uncensored models to choose from, including roleplay tunes built to stay in character through anything. There is also no avatar, no phone call, and no memory that spans months on its own.

Choose OpenRogue if what you want is an unrestricted writing and roleplay partner you control — pick the model, define the character in a Project, keep the whole conversation in context, and change your mind about any of it mid-session without losing the thread.
Choose Replika if the relationship is the point. A single companion that remembers your life across months, with a face and a voice and a phone app built entirely around that continuity, is something OpenRogue does not attempt. Swapping it for a model dropdown would be a downgrade for exactly the thing you valued.
Partly, and you should go in knowing which part. It can play a consistent character indefinitely with no content restrictions, using a Project to hold the persona. It does not build a long-term model of you across months on its own, and there is no avatar or voice call — the continuity is the conversation you keep, not a profile the system maintains.
Literally, within the context window. Euryale 70B and the Hermes models carry 131K of context, so a long session keeps its own history verbatim rather than compressing it into a summary. Standing facts you want remembered across separate chats go into a Project's custom instructions, which every chat in that project reads.
Yes, for adults. OpenRogue adds no filter layer, and the roleplay models were tuned to stay in scene rather than break character to refuse. That is a design decision rather than a temporary setting, which is the specific thing people burned by policy reversals tend to be asking about.
No avatar and no synthetic voice — OpenRogue takes voice input but does not speak back with a rendered character. If the visual and audio presence is a meaningful part of why Replika works for you, this is the wrong trade.
Hermes 3 70B is the usual starting point — the Hermes line is trained to be steerable rather than to have opinions about who it should be, so it adopts a persona and holds it. Euryale 70B is warmer and more expressive, and Rocinante 12B answers fast enough to feel like messaging. All three are in the Rogue library.
